Coming Full Circle: From Jewelry Dreamer to Guest Speaker at Mi Casa Resource Center
Last week, I had the incredible honor of speaking at the Mi Casa Resource Center graduation ceremony—a moment that was not only deeply personal, but also a powerful reminder of how far a dream can go when it's supported by community.
In 1996, I sat in those very same seats as a Mi Casa student, uncertain about the future but filled with determination. I had a passion for art, culture, and the timeless beauty of handmade objects—particularly jewelry. But turning that passion into a business? That felt daunting.
Mi Casa changed that.

Through their training and support, I learned how to transform a creative vision into something sustainable. They didn’t just teach me business fundamentals—they helped me believe in my voice and my value as a Latina entrepreneur. That confidence became the foundation of Renata Rubio 92.5, my handcrafted sterling silver jewelry brand inspired by heritage, artisan tradition, and bold, modern design.
Each piece I create reflects more than just aesthetic beauty—it tells a story. A story of craftsmanship, empowerment, and cultural pride. My jewelry is handmade by skilled artisans in Mexico, and every design is a celebration of their talent and of the entrepreneurial journey we share.
Being invited back to Mi Casa as a guest speaker felt like a full-circle moment in the truest sense. To stand before the graduating class as someone who once stood in their shoes was emotional, humbling, and inspiring. It reminded me that the seeds we plant with intention and love can grow into something far greater than we ever imagined.
To the graduates: your journey is just beginning, and the world needs what you have to offer. Whether you’re starting a bakery, a clothing brand, or your own jewelry line—your ideas matter. Keep pushing forward. Surround yourself with people who believe in you, and never forget: you belong at the table.
Thank you, Mi Casa Resource Center, for continuing to empower new generations of business owners. You don’t just teach skills—you spark legacies. I am living proof of that.
With pride and gratitude, Renata Rubio Founder & Designer, Renata Rubio 92.5
